Robert Lewandowski will have groin surgery after the last Bundesliga game before the winter break.
In a statement on the clubs website, fcbayern.com manager Hansi Flick confirmed the procedure.
“Robert Lewandowski will undergo a groin operation after the last Bundesliga game of the year against Wolfsburg on Saturday.”
“The Poland international is expected to be out for 10 to 14 days.”
“We don’t want to lose any time.”
After the last game, German sides take a four-week break. The hopes are this will be more than enough time for the striker to recover.
Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has been in sensational form for Bayern this season.
He has scored 19 goals in 16 games so far in the Bundesliga, plus 10 goals in five champions league games.
His tally in the German top flight has taken him to third in the all-time Bundesliga standings.
